Folkestone Maternity Clothes Library

Borrow what you need, for free, and return it when you can..

At the Folkestone Maternity Clothes Library, we believe every pregnant person deserves to feel comfortable and confident without spending a fortune on clothes they'll only wear for a few months.

Our library is a free community resource where you can borrow beautiful, good-quality maternity and breastfeeding clothes, wear them for as long as you need, then simply return them so someone else can enjoy them too.

Since opening, we've welcomed hundreds of women through our doors, and it's been wonderful to see our collection of clothes shared again and again between local families.

Whether you're newly pregnant, nearing your due date or looking for breastfeeding-friendly clothing after your baby arrives, we'd love to welcome you.

Why Borrow?

Pregnancy is full of changes, including your wardrobe!

Finding clothes that fit your changing body can be expensive, especially when you may only wear them for a short season. Many people find themselves ordering several sizes online, hoping one will fit, only to send most of them back.

Our library offers a different way.

Borrow what you need, try things on in a relaxed environment, and come back as your body changes throughout pregnancy.

Not only does borrowing save money, it also helps reduce textile waste by giving quality maternity clothes a longer life.

Why buy new when maternity clothes are only needed for such a short time?

How It Works

It's wonderfully simple.

Visit us during one of our monthly sessions and browse our collection of maternity and breastfeeding clothing.

You're welcome to use our changing area and full-length mirror to try items on before deciding what you'd like to borrow.

Take home whatever you need.

When you've finished with the clothes, simply return them whenever you can, ready for another family to enjoy.

There is no charge.

Everything is completely free to borrow.

What You'll Find

Our collection includes a wide variety of good-quality pre-loved clothing, including:

  • Maternity tops

  • Jeans, leggings and trousers

  • Dresses

  • Jumpers and cardigans

  • Seasonal clothing

  • Breastfeeding tops

  • Feeding vests

  • Nursing dresses

  • Breastfeeding-friendly jumpers and other nursing wear

As our collection comes from generous donations, stock changes regularly and every visit may offer something new.

More Than Just Clothes

The Maternity Clothes Library is about much more than borrowing clothes.

It's an opportunity to meet other parents-to-be, chat with our friendly volunteers and enjoy a welcoming community.

Many visitors come with a partner, friend, family member or someone they've met through antenatal classes or Family Hub activities. Everyone is welcome.

Running alongside the library is our Bumps & Babes group, where little ones up to around 12–18 months can play while adults enjoy free tea, coffee and biscuits.

It's a lovely opportunity to meet other local families in a relaxed and supportive setting.

Why We Do This

The Folkestone Maternity Clothes Library is hosted by Harbour Church because we believe practical acts of kindness can make a real difference.

Pregnancy should be a time of excitement, not added financial pressure.

By sharing resources, reducing waste and creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, we hope every visitor leaves feeling supported, encouraged and valued.

Everyone is welcome, whether this is your first visit or your fifth.
